INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS

An interstate adoption occurs when the child and the adoptive parents are in two different states. It requires compliance with the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (“ICPC”) and both states involved must provide ICPC approval before your child can be brought home. It is important to work with an ICPC experienced firm that provides great attention to detail, ensuring ICPC compliance in a timely manner. We have handled numerous interstate adoptions--both independent and agency. We strive to ensure efficient ICPC approval to get you home quickly, and provide timely finalization of your adoption.

BIRTH PARENT

REPRESENTATION

Placing a child for adoption is a loving option for birth parents who are not prepared to parent a child. If you are considering placing your child for adoption, we can counsel you on your options, educate you about Georgia adoption law, and help you understand your rights. We would love to compassionately guide you through this process.

GUARDIANSHIPS

Are you caring for a child in your home and desire to legalize your relationship, but adoption is not appropriate at this time? Guardianship may be your answer. We can educate you on your options and counsel you to provide the best working solution for your situation. Guardianship can allow you to do several things on behalf of the child while he/she is in your care, such as make legal decisions, seek medical attention, enroll in school, and even obtain medical insurance.

INDEPENDENT ADOPTIONS

We will work with you before and after you have been matched with a birth mother or have identified a child available for adoption. It is important that you understand what you are legally able to provide for the birth parents. You must also consider what type of relationship you would like with the child's birth family. We can help you navigate the numerous facits of an independent adoption including whether to have an open adoption, the types of post-adoption relationships to consider, and the pros and cons of post adoption contact agreements.
