An interstate adoption occurs when the child and the adoptive parents are in two different states. It requires compliance with the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (“ICPC”) and both states involved must provide ICPC approval before your child can be brought home. It is important to work with an ICPC experienced firm that provides great attention to detail, ensuring ICPC compliance in a timely manner. We have handled numerous interstate adoptions--both independent and agency. We strive to ensure efficient ICPC approval to get you home quickly, and provide timely finalization of your adoption.

Placing a child for adoption is a loving option for birth parents who are not prepared to parent a child. If you are considering placing your child for adoption, we can counsel you on your options, educate you about Georgia adoption law, and help you understand your rights. We would love to compassionately guide you through this process.

Are you caring for a child in your home and desire to legalize your relationship, but adoption is not appropriate at this time? Guardianship may be your answer. We can educate you on your options and counsel you to provide the best working solution for your situation. Guardianship can allow you to do several things on behalf of the child while he/she is in your care, such as make legal decisions, seek medical attention, enroll in school, and even obtain medical insurance.

Once you bring your child home from his/her country of origin, you may not be finished. We can assist you with the final steps of your foreign adoption or guardianship. We can help you domesticate your foreign decree or finalize your adoption to obtain a Georgia Certificate of Birth, and ensure that your child become a United States citizen. We have handled adoptions from many countries including China, India, Peru, Guatemala, Bulgaria, Russia, Latvia, Ukraine, South Korea, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Ethiopia, Uganda, D.R. Congo, and Taiwan.

Whether you are working with an agency within the State of Georgia or out of state, with a private or foster care agency, we can help. We will work with you and your agency to ensure that your adoption is finalized as smoothly and quickly as possible to give you peace of mind. We will take care of all the details so you can focus on your new family.

Are you considering an independent, non-agency adoption? We can educate and counsel you on your options, and guide you through each step of the process. We will work with you before and after you have been matched with a birth mother or have identified a child available for adoption. It is important that you understand what you are legally able to provide for the birth parents. You must also consider what type of relationship you would like with the child's birth family. We can help you navigate the numerous facits of an independent adoption including whether to have an open adoption, the types of post-adoption relationships to consider, and the pros and cons of post adoption contact agreements.
